Learning need at Seek

SEEK needed to raise awareness of mental health in the workplace and remove the stigma associated with it. With such a diversified audience, the most significant challenges were concerned with how we researched, communicated and trained the audience regarding such a sensitive topic.

Process

Through collaboration with research partners we identified the PERMA model as a great framework from which to hang the learning. PERMA (Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement) is an acronym that stands for the five elements developed by Martin Seligman that account for what makes up the “good life” – an authentic and sustained happiness and well-being.

Solution

We created a mobile-first online experience, with research backed design that raised awareness, assessed and introduced bias breaking behaviours, and further fortified employee wellbeing. A one stop shop for understanding, reflecting and then acting on one’s own behaviours to create a better culture and a better life.

Results

Feedback from employees is that the tying of behaviours to what makes up a “good life” as opposed to traditional mental health online modules which focuses on the negative, has contributed to changing the conversation in the business as to what health and well being is.
